Football is more than a game. For young learners, it is an opportunity to discover teamwork, discipline, confidence, perseverance and the importance of working towards a common goal. Keeping this spirit of sportsmanship alive, St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore hosted the much-awaited Foot Fest Season 4 – 2026, an Inter-School Junior Knockout Football Tournament for Boys and Girls, on 26th September 2026.

A Day of Energy, Skill and Sportsmanship
The tournament featured 14 exciting matches, with players displaying remarkable determination and team spirit throughout the competition.
Every match brought its own moments of excitement. The young footballers demonstrated their skills on the field while learning the importance of communication, coordination and staying focused under pressure. The competitive nature of the knockout format made every game meaningful, encouraging the teams to give their best until the final whistle.
More importantly, the matches reflected the true spirit of school-level sport—competing with confidence while respecting opponents and valuing the experience.
Encouragement from the School Leadership
Our respected Principal, Mrs. Shweta Ray, motivated the young participants with a heartfelt message, encouraging them to enjoy the game, cherish the experience and create beautiful memories.
Her message reflected an important aspect of sporting education. For children, winning is certainly rewarding, but the lessons gained through participation can be equally valuable. Learning how to work as a team, respond to challenges, accept results gracefully and continue improving are qualities that extend far beyond the football field.
Inspiration from a Football Legend
The tournament was honoured by the presence of our distinguished Chief Guest, Mr. Dipak Mondal, former Indian footballer and Arjuna Awardee.
His presence added a special dimension to the event and inspired the young players. During his interaction with the students, Mr. Mondal spoke about the importance of football as a global sport and encouraged students to pursue sports alongside academics.
His message highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between academic learning and physical activity. Sports can help young people develop discipline, resilience, leadership and confidence—qualities that can support them throughout their lives.
Celebrating Outstanding Performances
After a series of exciting matches, the tournament produced impressive performances across both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
In the Boys’ category, Aditya Academy Senior Secondary School, Dumdum emerged as the Champions, while St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore finished as the 1st Runners-up. Assembly of Christ secured the 2nd Runners-up position.
In the Girls’ category, St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore emerged as Champions, followed by Adamas International School as the 1st Runners-up and Gospel Home Rishra as the 2nd Runners-up.
The results reflected the determination and hard work of all the participating teams.
Recognising Individual Talent
Foot Fest Season 4 also celebrated outstanding individual contributions through special awards.
Anik Majumder from Aditya Academy was named the Boys’ Player of the Tournament, while Ayushi Shaw from Gospel Home received the Girls’ Player of the Tournament award.
The Best Goalkeeper awards went to Nalinaksha Dutta from St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore in the boys’ category and Sreyashi Dey from St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore in the girls’ category.
These recognitions celebrated individual excellence while reminding young players that personal achievement often grows from dedication, practice and teamwork.
Why School Football Matters
Events such as Foot Fest offer students much more than an opportunity to compete.
Football naturally encourages children to communicate with their teammates, make decisions quickly, manage pressure and understand their individual responsibilities within a larger team. It also teaches them how to deal with both success and setbacks.
For young learners, these experiences can contribute to the development of confidence, discipline, resilience, leadership and cooperation.
A sporting field can therefore become another classroom—one where students learn through experience, participation and interaction.
More Than Just a Competition
Foot Fest Season 4 was not simply about determining winners and runners-up. It was about creating an environment where young players could experience the excitement of competitive sport, meet students from other schools and develop a deeper appreciation for teamwork and sportsmanship.
The smiles after a good pass, the encouragement between teammates, the determination after a missed opportunity and the respect shown towards opponents were all part of what made the tournament special.
These are the moments that often remain with students long after the trophies have been awarded.
A Heartfelt Vote of Thanks
The successful completion of Foot Fest Season 4 was made possible through the collective efforts of numerous people.
Our respected Headmistress, Mrs. Rishita Nandy, delivered the Vote of Thanks and expressed sincere gratitude to the participating schools, dignitaries, coaches, teachers, players and everyone who contributed to organising and supporting the tournament.
The enthusiasm and cooperation of all those involved helped create a memorable sporting experience for the young participants.
Looking Beyond the Final Whistle
The Inter-School Junior Knockout Football Tournament for Boys and Girls – Foot Fest Season 4 will be remembered as a celebration of young sporting talent and the values that football represents.
For the students who participated, the tournament offered lessons that extend beyond the boundaries of the football field—how to work together, how to remain determined, how to respect others and how to enjoy the journey while striving to do their best.
At St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore, we believe that education encompasses more than academic achievement. Opportunities to participate in sports, cultural activities and other experiences help children grow into confident and well-rounded individuals.
And perhaps that is the most meaningful victory of Foot Fest Season 4—not simply the trophies lifted at the end of the tournament, but the confidence gained, friendships created and memories made along the way.
